Paris has always been a source of inspiration for millions of artists around the world. From the gothic yet romantic Notre dame Cathedral, the meeting of modern architecture and classic art of the louvre, to the commanding attention of the arc de triumph and Eiffel tower, the architecture is as colourful as its history.
Being one of the four fashion capitals of the world, many artist have created masterpieces while spending time in the beautiful city, from Karl Laggerfeld's Haute Couture Collection for Chanel presented at Grand Palais every year to Christian Louboutin's beginning and pivotal inspiration while visiting Paris' Museum of African and Oceanic art, Iconic Fashion Photographers Guy Bourdin and Mark Shaw to Street Photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson.
It was only a matter of time before D & the Bowerhaus sisters created a collection that captures the Parisian sense of opulence.
D, Shentel and Elizabeth were particularly captivated by the Le Meurice, a hotel with history stretching back more than 200 years, and ‘exudes grandeur, elegance and rich in culture and history, that was actually inspired by the opulence of the palace of Versailles’.
These 2 brands have their own unique and distinct identities. Duck appeals to the urban, modern and fashion-forward ladies who love to explore culture and place (#wanderlustduck), and enjoy a dash of luxury in life. Bowerhaus is a jewellery brand known for their use of pearl, hanging charm design elements, and natural gem stones from around the world to capture the beauty and magic of a particular place.
The three creatives set out to create something truly unique that would blend the two brands seamlessly, while capturing the essence of the magical Le Maurice. The pieces feature a sketched Bowerhaus logo, as well as the signature hanging duck charm, covered in mother of pearl. There are also a number of botanical drawings eliciting the beautiful French gardens, the flowers and fruits symbolizing a prosperous and sweet future.
The collection glimmers in gold and white in 3 pastel hues of jade, pink, and grey, and much like how every trip to Paris shows a different side of the city, the scarf can be styled in numerous ways to give a different perspective of the artwork. It also comes with a pearl bracelet, which has a coin charm inspired by Shentel and Elizabeth’s father’s vintage coin collection.
I have always loved D’s way of telling a story through her pieces, but this collaboration is truly special to me. They created this collection as a reminder for women to dream and remember the small moments in life, and having visited Paris 5 times in my life, each time has brought different, meaningful small moments; romance, luxury, family bonding, culture, and wonder. So her message is something that resonates with me and the glimpse of Paris that I have experienced.
